I wanted to expand on the benefits of the concept of taking up pre birth classes in the comfort of your home. It is a different and very new concept, that is proving very successful for many people, who are running very busy and fulfilling lives.

Essentially, the idea is that in order to be able to function effectively, we need to be able to be flexible. That is why I am a supporter of the home birthing classes process. Let me explain in greater detail…

Online Childbirth Classes

The home birthing classes system program is made up of ten modules that take around one month to complete. These modules are made up of audio and portable document format documents (pdf) print outs that you can view on your screen or print out. There are a total of one hundred and fifty pages of data. Best of all, you are able to go over the course as often as you wish and also, listen to the audio files on your ipod or similar audio player, on the go. You are not required to be in class at a set time, but can listen as you go about other activities or just want to listen quietly.

A common question however, is what does it involve and include?

The course’s first module is about

ACHIEVING A HEALTHY LOW-RISK PREGNANCY FOR BIRTH AND BEYOND

The idea here is to provide a great introduction to help you manage your pregnancy as well as possible. You are not expected to know everything, and even though you may be aware of some of the points, starting from scratch for everyone makes it easier to ensure that you get all the information that will help you make the right decisions as you go.

The second module is about being a smart pregnant consumer. It is an important module that details such issues like the type of birth options that are available as well as the type of carers you can have through your pregnancy.

As an example, there are the births at home, or in a birthing centre, and of course, the hospital option. I am being quite deliberate in not making a recommendation one way or the other, as it is about your decision and what suits you and your circumstances. |This is why it’s so important to be as informed as possible to help you make the right decision. In any event, this is a critical step for your decision making. Further, you are able to make a decision between the use of a gynecologist, a midwife assistant or a general practitioner. The decision is entirely up to you. Other factors to consider are any previous birth experiences, and any other problems you may have had health wise.

The Third module is about the various possible interventions in a hospital environment.

This can be a very ‘scary’ situation, in that when one intervention is done, it can in fact lead to the requirement for other interventions and so on. Please understand I am not against a legitimate intervention when it is required, nit it is important to be aware of what they are all about so again, you can be informed about the process.

The fourth module is about the stages of labour.

This section of the course deals with the details of labour as well as some of the best positions to try and essentially, tips to make the process as easy as possible for you. Some people typically tell you to just push with all your might, but there are really different situations surrounding this and it is again best to be informed.

I will write in the next post about more details surrounding this course. The Birth at home course is loaded with information to help you achieve the best outcome from your birthing experience. You deserve a great birth!
